5ML: TOM SUTTON DESIGNS

5ml Design Collective is a UK partnership between Ilsa Parry, Michael Cloke and Tom Sutton. The brand is a design led organisation on a mission to assist independent British and international concept led creatives and design led craftspersons gain access to affordable opportunities to find new markets for their inventive products. At Liverpool Design Show 2011 they are presenting ‘Pixel Texel Luxel Voxel’ a collection of designers zooming in on pattern, light, texture and volume with examples of lighting, furnishings, homewares, and lifestyle accessories using a mix of traditional and digital techniques.

Tom Sutton’s Aero-Organic design process demonstrates an awareness of the importance for the most effective use of raw materials and energy resources required to manufacture pieces. The majority of designs are formed and finished by hand and utilise the maximum amount of materials employed. The evolution of designs respond to the requisite challenges of functionality, sustainability, quality and desirability as required for modern living.
